Depression & Emotional Numbness Counselling in Nanaimo & Online

Feeling numb or like you're watching your life from the outside?

You go through the motions — at work, home, with your closest people — but feel detached, empty, or disconnected. That’s more than just fatigue. Depression often feels like emotional anesthesia, and it doesn’t have to stay that way.

MY STORY

I’ve Lost Someone Inside (Then Found Myself Again)

“There was a time I didn’t feel joy, even in moments I thought should matter. It wasn’t sadness exactly, but a quiet absence. Therapy helped me gently return — to my own feelings, to meaning, and to a real sense of living again. It wasn’t sudden, but it was lasting.”

You Might Be Experiencing Burnout

You’re not alone

"Depression isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a signal that your basic human needs aren’t being met."

How Counselling Can Help

Therapy helps you:

  • Notice small cracks that let in warmth and feeling again
  • Explore what lost you — and what might bring you back
  • Start small: a habit, a connection, a spark — and let it grow
  • Move through numbness at a gentle pace that respects everything you’ve carried

What to Expect in Sessions

We’ll explore what numbness feels like for you — what’s unseen, and what matters again. Some meet weekly; others start slower. I’ll share small tools that let you notice what remains, and begin rebuilding a sense of yourself in deep, meaningful ways.

Tools We Might Use

  • Gentle mindfulness, noticing present sensations
  • Grounded conversations about what matters
  • Rituals or routines that restore rhythm
  • Checking in with simple joys — movement, nourishment, play

Common Questions

Is numbness always depression?

Not necessarily. It can come from overwhelm, grief, trauma or long-term stress. Therapy helps you untangle what’s underneath.

Not always. Numbness is one way it shows. It doesn’t have to define you. Feeling can return quietly, without pressure.

Many feel small shifts,  a bit more ease, or a moment of connection within a few sessions. Healing takes time and patience. And you don’t have to do it alone.
