You’re carrying a lot. You don't have to do it alone.
Honest, direct counselling for men who are tired of "sucking it up" and ready to get life back on track.
Most men don’t seek help because they think they “should” be able to handle it. But the weight of those expectations eventually starts to show up in ways that are hard to ignore.
You might recognize yourself in these moments:
You’re feeling on edge, irritable, or “snappy” with your family, and you can’t quite put your finger on why.
You want to explain what’s going on, but the words feel stuck. It’s easier to just stay quiet, even though the silence is creating a gap between you and your partner.
You’re carrying the heavy weight of work, family, and social expectations, and it feels like there is no “off” switch.
You feel like you’re watching your life from the sidelines—disconnected from yourself and the people who matter most.
You know the current way of living isn’t sustainable and something has to change, but the “how” feels completely out of reach.
Most men think they’re supposed to have all together. They feel like coming to therapy is admitting defeat, or just another place where they have to “perform” and be a ‘good student’.
I’m here to tell you: You can stop performing.
I provide a calm, open, and grounded space for men who are looking for a real, honest conversation about what’s actually happening in their lives.
No jargon. No clipboard. But real curiosity and understanding.
My style sits at a “6 or 7” on the directness scale. While I’m calm and curious, I won’t just sit back, nod, and ask how you feel. I bring a mix of straight-talk, humor, and compassion to our sessions because I’ve been in your shoes.
I know what it’s like to carry the weight of expectations, to feel the burnout, and to wonder why “working harder” isn’t fixing the disconnect at home. I’ve lived those challenges, and I know that my first job is to help you see that it makes perfect sense why you feel the way you do.
Once we understand the pressure you’re under, we work together to regain your balance and help you show up as your authentic self. We skip the jargon and focus on the strategies that actually work:
Deconstructing the “suck it up” culture that has left you running on fumes.
Practical tools to stop the friction and reconnect with what matters.
Trading the “performance” of having it all together for genuine stability, confidence, and purpose.
If you feel stuck, you aren’t alone. Many of the men I work with in Nanaimo and across BC are navigating the same heavy terrain:
You feel like the “problem” at home, stuck in a constant cycle of blame and attack with your partner, and you’ve forgotten how to feel like a team.
You love your kids, but you feel completely lost in the transition to fatherhood. You’re trying to be a “modern” dad while carrying old-school pressures, and you feel like you’re failing at both.
You’re carrying the mental load of your career and family, but you feel zero appreciation for how hard you’re trying. You’re successful on paper, but empty in practice.
You’re trying to break old family patterns—being a different kind of man than your father was—but you don’t have a roadmap for what that actually looks like.
The stress is showing up in your body. You’re dealing with “mystery” back pain, headaches, or a constant sense of tension that prevents you from ever truly relaxing.
You’ve started to shut down or “white-knuckle” your way through the day just to get to the end of it, losing touch with your hobbies, your friends, and your sense of fun.
Therapy offers a safe place to talk about what is happening and explore what’s underneath. Whether you are managing anxiety, burnout, relationship struggles, trauma or a general feeling of being stuck, therapy can help you process what you’re carrying, learn tools to manage it, and move forward with more care and clarity.
Sessions take place in my private office in Linley Valley, Nanaimo or online for clients across British Columbia. Choose what feels most suitable to your needs and comfort level.
My session fees follow the standards set by professional counselling associations. You will receive receipts for insurance if your plan covers Registered Therapeutic Counsellors (RTC). A limited number of lower-cost spaces may be available.
We talk briefly over Zoom about what brings you to therapy and to see if the fit feels right.
We start by developing a goal for our work together—whether that’s stability, deeper understanding, coping with difficult emotions or something else important to you.
This is where the magic happens. Over time, you build insight, shift old patterns, and find steadiness in your life.
